Although it is common to see spotlights on police cars, not all SSP's came with spotlights. Those that did, may have had them removed after being taken out of service, and may have had the original mounting holes filled in before the car was painted.

There are a ton of used spotlights out there. Some may have a part number, and some may actually list the shaft code, but most do not. When buying a used spotlight the best thing to do is ask the buyer how long the exposed section of shaft is between the handle assembly and light assembly. See diagram below.

Shaft Length Measurements:

Exposed shaft (A) - the amount of tubing visible between the head housing and handle housing when the spotlight is assembled.

Center to center (B) - the distance between where the gears mesh in the handle and where the gears mesh in the head when the spotlight is assembled.

SSP Ford Mustangs:

1983-1988 Ford Mustang SSP used a 'K' shaft code spotlight with a 221 mounting bracket for the drivers side and 221RH for the passenger side posts.

1989-1993 Ford Mustang SSP used a 'K' shaft code spotlight with a 221RH mounting bracket for the drivers side and 221 for the passenger side posts.

SSP Ford LTD's:

1984-1985 Ford LTD SSP used a 'K' shaft code spotlight with a 199 mounting bracket for the drivers side and 199RH for the passenger side posts.

SSP Chevy Camaro's:

1991-1992 Chevy Camaro B4C used a 'V' shaft code spotlight with a 208 mounting bracket for the drivers side and 208RH for the passenger posts.
